Motion requires you to connect your platform ad account and page permissions for Motion to be able to show you the data and ad previews. Here are the common issues you might see during the set up process, with linked articles that walk through the steps you can take to fix these.

Not sure which you should dive deeper into? More details on what each issue looks like below.

No data is showing when I open Motion.

"You need permissions on Facebook to Access this Account" error

If you see this error when opening a Meta report, it means you need to connect a Meta profile that has access to the ad account connected to this workspace.

"You need permissions on TikTok to Access this Account" error

If you see this error when opening a TikTok report, it means you need to connect a TikTok user profile that has access to the ad account connected to this workspace.

I can't watch the ad preview in Motion.

Meta "Page permissions needed" error

When trying to view ad previews, if you see this message pop up, it means Motion needs permission to the Meta page the ad may live on.

Sending you to external Facebook watch page to play video

If you run into a preview that is sending you to an external Meta page to play the preview (doesn't play the preview directly in Motion), please reach out to our support team through the chat bubble in the bottom right corner. Share with us the ad that is linking externally, and we can take a look.

In some cases Meta does not pass us on the assets needed to pull in live previews, but sharing it with us will allow our team of developers to take a deeper look to see if there are ways to pull it through.

TikTok "Page permissions needed" error

If you are seeing this error it is likely due to the ad being a spark ad and Motion needing permissions to the creative asset that lives on another TikTok account.
