🚨Creative Research is now a legacy feature 🚨

We are rolling out a new feature (Inspo) to help you find creative inspiration, track trends across your competitors, and discover more ideas for your creative strategy.

Creative Research is still available for some customers, but we will be migrating (saved boards, etc.) to Inspo once we've done more testing.

If you're on a brand-new plan, you won't see Creative Research. Please check out Inspo instead. You can read more about Inspo right here.

What is Creative Research?

Creative Research allows you to save ads and content from other brands, serving as a centralized space for ad inspiration.

This feature lives on the organization level, meaning that Owners, Admins, and Collaborators within your organization can all access, create, and contribute to your Boards and Creative Research Library.

How to find your Creative Research Library

Sign into Motion and click on the “Creative Research” icon on the left sidebar.

Using Boards

You can set up Boards that reflect different themes or inspirations. You could have a Board for "Us vs. Them" comparisons or one for "Dramatic Demonstrations” - you can create as many Boards as you’d like!

When you find an ad you'd like to add to board, hit the Save icon in the top right and pick the board you want to add it to.

Using Brand Intel

You can follow entire brands through the Brand Intel section, and study your competitor’s media mix, track new messaging or offer experiments, and dive into what’s working on your competitor’s top landing pages.

Brand Intel is exclusively compatible with the Meta Ads Library.

Head to the Brand Intel section in your Creative Research Library. Then search for a brand or add a brand’s Facebook Ads Library URL.

Once the brand appears, hit “Follow” and ads will automatically load. You can sort and filter a brand’s ads by:

  • Newest or longest-running

  • Format (image, video, carousel)

  • Active or inactive

  • Active time (ex. more than 1 month)

When you follow a brand, anytime they publish a new ad you’ll see it in Creative Research. When you click on an ad, it opens in Meta for full viewing. Follow as many brands as you like—there’s no cap, and you can unfollow anytime.

Go Deeper with Brand Intel

You can find brand insights by viewing their media mix, which breaks down the formats (videos/images/carousel) and landing page strategy for their current live ads.

Want to know if they’re sending traffic to a collection, product page, or a blog review first? You can access this breakdown by clicking into the brand for a detailed view.

Note: Media mix examines ads that are currently live only.

Get ad-specific insights in a few clicks

Click on any saved ad to learn more about it, including:

  • Ad Preview (copy, CTA, as well as a direct link to the ad)

  • Brand details

  • Active status

  • Landing page URL

  • Platforms the ad lives on

  • GIF/Video Download: Download ads as GIFs or full videos to include in briefs or presentations.

Exploring Collections in Creative Research

Explore curated ad Collections saved by our team and top creators—handpicked ads based on specific themes like "Science and Stats" or "Dramatic Demonstrations." These collections showcase top-performing ads in various categories, providing you with even more creative fuel for your campaigns.

You can easily select ads from these collections to your boards and share them with your team.
