What is Inspo?

Inspo is Motion's tool to explore, save, and organize ads from top brands. Use it to spot creative trends, analyze what's working in your industry, and build inspiration boards your whole team can reference.

Inspo works at the workspace level - each workspace has its own set of boards, saved ads, and followed brands.

Heads up: Inspo currently displays ads from Meta's Ad Library only.

Where to find Inspo

Open Inspo from the left sidebar in Motion (the photo icon).

You'll see four sections:

  • Discover: Curated ads from hundreds of brands across 30+ industries — see what's driving real spend right now

  • Saved: Individual ads your team has saved

  • Brand Intel: All the brands you follow, with quick insights on their media mix and visual formats

  • Boards: Groups of ads you've organized by theme or project

Only Account Owners, Admins, and Collaborators can make changes in Inspo.

Guests and non-Motion users can only view boards that are shared via link, they can't make changes or access the rest of Inspo.

We're planning to add more options for guests and external users in the future.

Discovering ads (the good stuff)

The Discover feed is where you'll find curated creative from 300+ brands across 30+ industries. These aren't random, they're the ads driving real spend and showing up in your customers' feeds right now.

What you'll see in Discover

Trending visual formats - At the top of the feed, you'll see the visual formats with high usage in the last 7 days. Think headline vs testimonial vs offer-first banner — it's a quick snapshot of what Meta's seeing consistently.

The main feed - Below that, scroll through all the curated ads. You can keep scrolling as long as you want, or use the filters to narrow things down.

Filtering the Discover feed

Use the filters across the top to dial in exactly what you're looking for:

  • Newest or longest running — sort by freshness or longevity

  • Specific brands — filter to see ads from particular brands

  • Active or inactive — see what's currently running or what's been paused

  • How long ads have been active — filter by time range

  • Ad type — video, image, or carousel

  • Industry categories — dive into specific industries

  • Product type — get niche about the content you're looking for

  • Visual formats — filter by specific creative styles

Customizing your view: Click the settings icon in the top right to toggle what info shows on each ad: Days active, ad copy, headline + CTA, or visual format.

Saving ads from Discover

See something you love? Hit the Save button on any ad and add it to one of your boards. You can quickly build collections based on themes, formats, or however you're organizing your creative research.

Switching to Following view

Want to see only the brands your workspace is following? Toggle from "For You" to "Following" at the top of the Discover feed. Same filterable experience, just narrowed to your followed brands.

Power move: Recreate your customer's feed

Here's a killer way to use Discover: put yourself in your customer's shoes and see what they're seeing:

  1. Go to the Discover feed

  2. Filter by your product type or industry

  3. Scroll through the feed

You'll see the ads your customers are being served. Look for patterns: What visuals cut through the noise? What formats keep showing up? This is gold for understanding your competitive landscape.

Following brands

To follow a brand:

  1. Find them in the search bar

  2. Click on the brand to view their profile

  3. Hit Follow to add them to your Brand Intel page

You can follow as many brands as you like! And if you can't find one in the search bar, grab a URL from their Facebook page or Meta Ads Library and add it. ⬇️

Brand Intel: Scan competitor patterns fast

The Brand Intel section shows all the brands you're following. Instead of clicking into each brand individually, you'll see quick cards with key insights:

  • Media mix — their active ads # and what ad types they're running

  • Visual formats — which creative styles they're using (with percentages)

  • Landing pages — where they're sending traffic (with percentages)

This is a game-changer for creative strategists. Scan through all your competitors at once and spot patterns in their visual formats, fast. No more clicking into each brand to see what they're testing.

Saved ads: Your activity feed

The Saved section shows an activity feed of everything you or your team has saved, whether from the Discover feed or somewhere else.

You can sort and filter through your saved ads, and toggle between two views in the top right:

  • Card collection view — see multiple ads at once

  • Single card view — scroll through one ad at a time

Saving ads to boards

To save an ad to a board:

  1. Click on any ad in Inspo to open the preview

  2. Select Save to Board

  3. Choose an existing board or create a new one

  4. The ad will now appear in that board

You can also create a board from the discover feed by hitting save and entering a board name that hasn't been used in this workspace yet.

You can create as many boards as you need, we recommend grouping them with Folders by type (video, static), messaging angle (humor, nostalgia) or awareness stage (TOFU, MOFU, BOFU).

Pro tip: Use the search function on the left sidebar to quickly find a specific folder or board across your account.

Sharing boards across workspaces

Any boards your create in Inspo will be saved in that workspace, but you can add them to other workspaces in your Motion organization as well.

  • Click the three dots in the top-right of a board

  • Hit Manage access

  • Check off the linked workspaces you want to share this board to (or toggle share with all current & future workspaces)

This will automatically create the board and the folder in the other workspaces you've picked.

Sharing boards with your team

  1. Open the board you want to share

  2. Click the Copy Link button in the top-right

  3. Share the link with anyone that has a Motion profile in your account, they'll need to log in to view it.

Can I share Inspo with someone who doesn't have a Motion profile?

Yes, but they'll have a "view-only" experience without editing boards or following new brands.

Inspo is best experienced by Motion users - remember that each Inspo space is workspace-specific.

Sharing Inspo boards with external partners

In addition to sharing Inspo boards internally within your organization, you can now share boards externally with partners outside your org.

How external board sharing works

  1. Navigate to Inspo → Boards

  2. Open a board and click Manage access

  3. Select the External partners tab

  4. Choose an existing partner or invite a new one by email

  5. Send the invite

Once invited, the external partner can choose which organization and workspace they want the board to live in on their end.

What external partners can (and can’t) do

  • Shared boards are read-only

  • External partners cannot edit or delete the original board

  • They can:

    • View and explore the board

    • Save it to their own workspace

    • Duplicate the board into their workspace to fully customize it

Duplicating a board creates a completely independent copy, so any edits won’t affect the original shared board.

Managing shared boards

  • Boards shared with you appear in a Shared with me section

  • You can remove yourself from a shared board at any time

  • Board owners can manage access:

    • Directly from the board

    • From Workspace Settings → Shared Boards

This allows teams to collaborate with external clients or partners while keeping full control over their original Inspo boards.

Grabbing transcripts from Inspo ads

When you find a video ad with a compelling script you can get a copy of it in a few clicks to use in your next creative brief. Perfect in a time-crunch, no manual transcribing required.

Double-click into the ad you're loving and the transcript should populate right away. ⏬

You can copy time-stamped sections (great for keywords) or scroll down and copy the entire transcript.

This feature works for ads you've saved and new ads as you discover them through Brand Intel.

Using AI Chat with brands in Inspo

When viewing a brand, you can run AI analysis to get insights:

  1. Go to a brand's profile in Inspo

  2. Pick a thought starter on the brand page (try "tell me what this brand is testing right now" for spying 👀 )

  3. Completed tasks can be found in your AI Chat history!

FAQs

Does Inspo replace the original Creative Research?

Yes. We migrated customers using Creative Research (saved boards, etc.) to Inspo in November 2025.

Our first iteration of Creative Research laid the groundwork, but it was limited since it ran at the organization level, we're confident that setting up Inspo at the workspace level will be a better experience.

What additional features will be added to Inspo?

Stay tuned! We're working on more options for sharing and discovering content with Inspo.

We're currently testing out a Trending section of Inspo for the top brands and ads that other users are engaging with every week. It's been rolled out for some users so you might see it in your account!
