Runneth is Motion's creative strategy teammate. It's available as a monthly add-on to your core Motion subscription. This article explains how Runneth is packaged, what each pack includes, what stays in your core Motion plan, and how credits work.
Note: For current pricing and any offer applied to your account, reach out to the Motion team or check your billing page in Motion. Pricing can vary by account, so we keep exact figures where they're always up to date rather than in this article.
How Runneth is packaged
Runneth is a monthly add-on. You always need an active core Motion plan to use it.
Pricing doesn't scale with your ad spend. It scales with how much you use Runneth, measured in credits. Everyone starts from the same base pack, and you add more capacity only if and when you need it.
Your base Runneth pack includes:
A private virtual machine (VM) and the Brain – Runneth's long-term memory for your organization
The AI teammate in the Motion web app and in Slack
The native integrations library, including Slack
Secure secret storage for setting up your own private integrations
Hosting for custom apps Runneth builds for you
An included allotment of credit usage each billing cycle
Some integrations connect instantly, while others ask for credentials (such as an API key or client ID) the first time you set them up. (See Getting started with Runneth 🐸)
What is the virtual machine (VM)?
When you add Runneth, we spin up a private virtual machine for your organization. Think of it as Runneth's own dedicated computer, running just for you.
The VM is what lets Runneth actually do work rather than only chat. It's where Runneth runs analysis, builds reports and apps, holds your connected integrations and stored credentials, and keeps the Brain, its memory of your brand, preferences, and past work. Because the VM is private to your organization, your data and connections stay isolated to your own environment.
You don't have to manage or set anything up. The VM is provisioned automatically when Runneth is added to your account, and it's included in your base pack.
Runneth and your core Motion plan
Runneth is an optional add-on. Your existing core Motion features are unaffected by adding or removing Runneth, and removing Runneth never changes your core plan.
How credits work
Credits measure how much work Runneth is doing for you. You use credits whenever Runneth is working.
Some messages and conversations use more credits than others, depending on how much data and context Runneth needs and how much reasoning is involved. As a rough guide, most chats use a small number of credits, while larger operations use more.
At the start of each monthly billing cycle you receive your full credit allotment. As you use Runneth, it draws that total down. If you reach 100%, Runneth pauses until your next billing cycle or until you add more credits.
Note: Credits don't roll over. Your allotment resets at the start of each cycle, and unused credits don't carry forward.
If you need more credits
If you're running low, you can add more credit capacity to your subscription. You can add as much as you need, and packs can be added or removed from your monthly subscription at any time. If you expect to need a lot of additional capacity, reach out to the Motion team and we'll help you find the right setup.
Runneth during the Motion trial
Runneth isn't included in the Motion free trial by default. If you add Runneth credits during your trial, your core Motion trial is extended.
