Getting Started

Click on "Create Report" and select the "Comparative Report" option. If your account includes other platforms like Meta or TikTok, ensure you’ve selected YouTube in the top right drop-down menu.

Setting Up Your Comparative Report

1. Define Your Groups: Decide how you want to group your data. You can compare campaigns, ad groups, or other elements based on your naming conventions. For instance, compare Campaign A against Campaign B or compare all skippable ads against shorts (as long as it is in your naming!)

2. Set Your Metrics & Date Range: Select the metrics you want to compare, like view-through conversions or spend! You can adjust the date range to focus on recent performance or take a longer view.

3. Analyze the Results: Visualise your data with bar or line charts. This allows you to easily see trends, such as how one campaign may have overtaken another in the last two weeks.

4. Experiment with Granularity: Don't hesitate to drill down into specific ad sets or content types. Sometimes the most actionable insights come from a detailed comparison rather than a broad overview.

5. Monitor Trends Over Time: Use the line chart view to track how performance evolves. This can help you identify patterns, such as which days of the week yield the best results or how changes in spend impact conversions.

Pro-Tip: Leveraging consistent naming conventions make it easier to group and compare campaigns. Consider establishing a standard format that includes key identifiers like campaign goals, target audiences, or creative types.
