Attribution settings in Motion can be configured at two levels: workspace-level defaults and individual report settings.
Setting Workspace-Level Attribution
Only account Owners and Admins can change Attribution settings at the workspace level.
To set the default attribution window for your entire workspace:
Click the dropdown menu in the main navigation
Select Workspace Settings
Head over to Data Sources
Under Meta, click Edit
Customize your preferred attribution window settings (e.g., 7-day click, 1-day view)
Please note: changing your attribution window on a workspace level will apply the saved changes to new reports created going forward. Any historic reports already set up in your workspace would need to be adjusted on the report level using the steps below.
Setting Report-Level Attribution
Account Owners, Admins, and Collaborators can change report-level Attribution settings.
To customize the attribution window for a specific report:
Click into the report you want to modify (or create a new Top performing or Comparative analysis report)
Scroll to the bottom of the card view
Click the Custom dropdown menu
Select Customize Columns
Click the Edit button next to the attribution settings
Modify the attribution window as needed (e.g., change from "1-day view" to "no view")
Click Apply to save your changes
Note: Changing attribution settings at the report level only affects that specific report and will override the workspace default settings.
Attribution Window Mismatch Indicator
Motion now includes a visual indicator that alerts you when a report's attribution window does not match your workspace-level attribution settings. If you see a mismatch warning on your report, it means the report is using a different attribution window than the one configured in your workspace settings.
Additionally, when you change the attribution window at the report level to a setting that conflicts with your workspace defaults, Motion will display a confirmation modal warning you about the mismatch. This helps prevent accidental misalignment that could skew your metrics when comparing across reports.
Why does this matter? If different reports in your workspace use different attribution windows, the same creative could show very different performance numbers depending on which report you're viewing. The mismatch indicator ensures you're always aware when this is happening so you can make informed decisions about your data.
Pro tip: To streamline future reporting, consider saving frequently used settings, including attribution windows, as report presets.
