We've put extra care into making sure that Motion shows you the most accurate data so that the insights you see results in to the best decisions.
Better Attribution Windows with Motion
Motion offers two powerful report types that allow you to compare results across multiple campaigns, ad sets, and ads. The first is the Comparative Analysis, which groups together all your ads based on key variables to show how they perform against one another. The second is the Top Performing Ads report, which groups together all your top performing ads according to name or Post ID and stacks them against one another in a leaderboard-style view.
Since both report types show data across multiple campaigns and ad sets, it is critical to ensure that all your ads are compared consistently. However, the introduction of Ad-Set Level attribution windows in February 2021 meant that a report could show results from ads that leveraged vastly different attribution windows.
To avoid bad data modelling that could result of this, Motion now imposes a Default Attribution Window (defaulting to 1-day view and 7-day click) and pulls all data across all your ads, ad sets, and campaigns accordingly.
What Does the Motion Default Attribution Window Mean for Me?
Our Default Attribution Window has one main impact on the results you see - they may not always reflect what you see on your default Facebook attribution window. Instead, all results will show a 1-day view and 7-day click by standard.
Not to worry, our results are still as accurate as they have ever been. You can check this by first confirming that your attribution window on Facebook matches the attribution window on Motion, and comparing the data between the two sources.
Setting Your Own Motion Attribution Window
If your organization does not use a 1-day view and 7-day click attribution window, you can easily change the attribution window that Motion uses to display your results.
This can be done by opening the column view in any report type:
Within the column view, you should then hit "Change Attribution Window", and follow the prompts to set your attribution window for the given report accordingly.
Once your done, we suggest you save the column as a new default preset so that you can easily access your columns and pre-saved attribution windows at a click!
