Connecting a new data source in Motion

Learn how to add a new Meta, TikTok, YouTube, or LinkedIn ad account to Motion.

Here's how to set up additional ad accounts in Motion (after you've first created your account).

Keep in mind: you can only have one ad account per platform in each workspace. For example, if you want to analyze 3 Meta ad accounts you'll need a 3 unique workspace for each one.

Note: Only Owners or Admins in Motion can connect new ad accounts. Log in to one of these member account types before moving to the next step.

Adding a new data source in an existing workspace

  1. Select the top left menu, and choose ‘Workspace settings

  2. On the Data source tab, select ‘Connect’ next to the platform (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, or LinkedIn) you'd like to set up, and select the ad account you'd like to analyze.

  3. If you're connecting a new ad platform to motion, make sure you connect a profile for that platform with the right ad account permissions as well! You'll find them under My connections in your settings.


Adding a new data source in a new workspace

You may want to create a new workspace specifically for the new ad account to keep things organized. Especially if you have team members who only work with some ad platforms.

  • Example: Sometimes teams that run YouTube ad accounts are completely separate from the teams running Meta/TikTok.

Before taking the steps above, you can use these:

  1. Click the dropdown menu in the top left of Motion and hit Create workspace

  2. You can name the new workspace and connect a new data source directly in the pop-up window.
