Why AI tasks might fail — and what to do about it

My AI task keeps failing!

When an AI task doesn’t run successfully, it usually comes down to one of a few key issues. Here’s what’s going on behind the scenes and how to move forward.

Common reasons for task failure

  • Whitelisted ads & permission issues
If the ad is whitelisted, Motion may not have the permissions required to pull creative or copy. These permission limitations block the AI from accessing the data it needs.

  • No recent ad spend
Motion only pulls from creatives that have spent within the last 90 days. If the ad hasn’t spent recently, the task won’t run.

  • Missing or incomplete creative data
Sometimes the report loads, but the actual data doesn’t. This usually means:

    • The ad has no creative available.

    • The summary data failed to generate.

    • There was a temporary API connection issue.

What you can do

  • If it’s a global task (account-level):
Try running it again. A retry often clears things up.

  • If it’s a creative-level task (e.g. Creative Insights):
Try running it on a different ad—preferably one that isn’t whitelisted and has recent spend.

  • Still running into issues?
Reach out with the task name and details—we’ll take it from there.
